Dry Lining can be used in conjunction with cavity wall or attic insulation to give extra value to the heat saving properties of your home. Often used in attic conversions or on walls that are otherwise not insulated properly, it is cheaper and more effective than external wall insulation with the potential of saving you up to €600 a year on your energy bills. When combined with attic and cavity wall insulation, the typical 3 bed semi-detached house could save around 2.4 tonnes in carbon dioxide emmissions a year.

 

How it works
Plasterboard backed with insulating material of a typical thickness of 60mm is applied to battens already fixed to the wall. The construction of this plasterboard reduces the amount of heat which would otherwise pass through the solid wall and to the outside. Added insulation can also be added between the battens behind the plasterboard for added thermal resistance.
